Redesigned Joel Lane Museum House Website Launched

Sep 15, 2008
written by Chris Basnight | placed in projects | placed in graphic design

The Joel Lane Museum House is a historic site located in downtown. The Joel Lane house was built in the 1770’s by Colonel Joel Lane, a patriot who is responsible for making Raleigh the capital of North Carolina.

We became involved with the Joel Lane Society when a member of a leads group we participate in asked if we’d be interested in redesigning the JLMH website. I’ve been living in Raleigh since 1990 and was a little surprised that I’d never heard of the place. Some of my Raleigh native friends brought me up to speed on the history of Colonel Lane and I met with the curator to discuss their needs and goals for the website. It wasn’t long after our demo of ExpressionEngine before we were working on the new site.

The new site still has a couple of loose ends; most notably the museum store. Overall everyone at JLMH seems very happy… they’re able to manage and maintain the site content themselves and it now has a working contact form.
